Conferences

One of the most effective ways of learning in Model UN is to attend conferences.

Model UN Conferences are where students dive into the roles of country delegates and deliberate current global issues. Global Minds registers students for two anchor conferences hosted by Global Classrooms DC (GCDC), the flagship education program of the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA). Students will have the opportunity to attend a Training Conference in the fall and a competitive conference in the spring. The fall conference will provide an opportunity for students new to Model UN to participate in a conference designed to teach rather than compete, and students who have previous Model UN experience will benefit from practicing current skills. The spring conference is held at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. Both conferences are all-day events and open to students in grades 5 – 12.

In addition to the two conferences hosted by GCDC, our club seeks out additional conference opportunities hosted by neighboring high schools and universities. As these become available, we will share these opportunities with parents and students.

Students may earn awards at these conferences for the categories of Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate or Honorable Mention. Global Minds will provide administrative services to register and prepare students for all conference opportunities.
