Frequently Asked Questions
What is Model UN?
Model United Nations (Model UN or MUN) is an authentic simulation of the United Nations in which students act as delegates and engage in acts of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision-making at Model UN conferences.
What are the benefits of Global Minds Model UN?
On top of the wealth of valuable skills students practice and gain by participating in Model UN, Global Minds offers highly experienced educators and organizers that handle all the administration, obtain curriculum, and hold meetings. Global Minds does all the legwork every year and knows how to keep meetings engaging and fun.
What are Global Minds Model UN meetings like?
During meetings, Global Minds instructors may introduce curriculum, educate students on finding reliable sources for research, and above all, provide space and support for students to develop their positions, practice their skills, and collaborate.
Isn’t Model UN for college students and high school students?
While many universities and high schools have Model UN clubs, Model UN is open to 5th-8th graders, too!
What is GCDC?
Global Classrooms DC (GCDC) is the flagship education program of the United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA), and is part of a nationwide initiative to strengthen relations between the US and the UN. GCDC provides an expansive curriculum curated by partnering UN agencies in the DC area.
GCDC holds a training conference in the winter and a Model UN conference at the U.S. State Department in the spring.
Global Minds, LLC registers participating schools with GCDC.
How do I bring Global Minds to my child’s school?
We have expanded into multiple schools and have mentored Model UN club sponsors at other locations as well. Contact us so we can discuss your needs and goals.
Can my child who is home-schooled participate?
Each program is exclusive to the school, (for licensing, insurance, and authorization for school use purposes), so we are unable to extend the program to home-schooled participants or students who attend outside schools. However, any student may register for the CJMUN conference.
How do I set or change my password?
The first time you register a child with your email address, you will be sent an email with a link to set your password. You may later change your password if you have forgotten it using the “Lost your password?” link on the login screen or press the button below. If you are logged in and want to change your password, you may do so by editing your profile.
How do I view my payment history?
Starting for the Fall 2025 session, you will be able to view your payments by logging in and visiting the My Payments page. Your username is the parent email address you used to register your child. If you used different email addresses for different registrations, then you have multiple accounts, and they cannot be merged. If you registered a child for an earlier session than Fall 2025, unfortunately those payments are not tracked.
When does registration open?
Registration for every session opens several weeks before the start of the session.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes. Siblings who register during the same session may apply the sibling discount during registration. Cost should never be a reason a student does not participate. Please contact us if you would like to apply for financial assistance.
